STEAM-a-Palooza Brings Hands-On Learning to Life

More than 2,000 people gathered at Thunder Ridge Middle School for Cherry Creek School District’s annual STEAM-a-Palooza, a free community event celebrating the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). The event on Saturday, October 4 brought families, students, and educators together for a day filled with hands-on learning, exploration, and fun.
Highlights included a near-space weather balloon launch, robotics demonstrations, Lego derby car races, aerospace creations, and interactive exhibits showcasing the in-demand career pathways offered at the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus (CCIC). Guests also explored the district’s newest career pathways, including Veterinary Sciences, Motion Design, Pastry Chef, Instrument & Repair Tech, Surgical Technician, Certified Nurse Aid, and Pharmacy Technician.

This year’s STEAM-a-Palooza also featured several exciting new attractions, including the Star Lab, a pop-up planetarium that gave families a chance to explore the night sky indoors. Attendees held real reptiles, experimented with robotics, and explored virtual reality career simulations.
“STEAM-a-Palooza is all about sparking curiosity and showing students the incredible opportunities available in STEAM fields,” said James Justus, Partner of Innovation. “This event inspires learners of all ages to dream big, explore new interests, and discover pathways to their future.”
