Attendance Procedure

For the protection of students and the accurate monitoring of attendance, please follow one of the options below when reporting an absence. If your student is going to be absent all day (from CCIC and from your student's home high school) you must notify both CCIC and your student's home high school of the absence.

Option 1 - Call the Attendance Line

Call the Attendance Office at 720-554-2695 prior to 2:00 p.m. on the day of the absence. When leaving a message, please include:

  • Student’s name, spelling the last name
  • Reason for absence
  • Parent's Name
  • Phone number where you can be reached

Option 2 - Report Absence via TalkingPoints

Parents and Guardians can also report absences using the TalkingPoints mobile application. Download the app below, use the web version here, or sign in to your account at https://my.cherrycreekschools.org and use the TalkingPoints Tile (you may need to add it to your dashboard).

Download TalkingPpoints App via App Store

Download TalkingPoints App from Google Play

If your child misses or is going to miss school, please send a message to School Admin: CCIC using the TalkingPoints mobile app. Please remember to include the following:

  • Student's Name
  • the date and times of the absence
  • the reason your student is missing class

Early Dismissal / Late Arrival

If your student needs to be dismissed early from class, he/she must bring a signed note to the Attendance Office prior to the start of the school day. This will help reduce disruptions in the classroom. Students who leave campus without following the above procedure may not be marked “excused”.

In the event that a student becomes ill at school and needs to go home, he or she must either report to the clinic where the school nurse will phone a parent/guardian or have a parent/guardian call and give permission to the main office to excuse the student.

If a student is running late, they must stop and check in at the reception desk to receive a pass before heading to class.

Parent Notification

Our computerized parent notification system will call your home twice a day to inform you of unexcused absences. A call to the Attendance Office to excuse the absence on the day of the absence (before 2:00 p.m.) will prevent the computer from calling you. Messages on the attendance line are reviewed daily and every effort is made to update PowerSchool in a timely manner. However, changes may take 24 - 48 hours to be reflected in your student’s record. If you receive a prerecorded call or email from attendance and have already left a message, please disregard the automated message.
