Aerospace Technician I curates the skills and knowledge of an engineering student within the context of atmospheric and space flight. Students explore the fundamentals of flight in air and space as they bring the concepts to life by designing and testing components related to flight, such as airfoils, propulsion systems, and orbital mechanics. Students also gain foundational knowledge of digital electronic systems by studying the basic components as the building blocks for complex circuit design to develop a comprehensive understanding of electronic assembly. To elevate their learning, students engage in hands-on technical skill development through industry-level experiences in electronic assembly, OSHA safety standards, print reading, and DC/AC fundamentals. Emphasis is placed on applying precision, problem-solving, and collaboration as students interpret, design, and fabricate components used in aerospace systems. By the end of the course, students will have built a strong foundation in the science and engineering of flight—preparing them to think, design, and work like aerospace technicians in one of the most advanced industries in the world.
Aerospace Technician II builds upon the fundamental principles of electronics, including the study of Direct Current (DC) / Alternating Current (AC) and their application in space systems. Students explore basic circuits, voltage, current, and resistance measurement using Ohm’s Law, and examine series and parallel circuits, motors, generators, and electromagnetic induction. Electronic theory is reinforced through breadboarding and the fabrication of printed circuit board projects, with a strong emphasis on the utilization of electronic test equipment. Students delve into electronic applications connected to satellite systems and aerospace technologies while developing precision in soldering and earning a soldering certification. Students apply their knowledge through individualized and project-based work, including electrical wiring, cable construction for signal transmission between devices, and advanced circuit testing. Emphasis is placed on troubleshooting, interpreting technical documentation, and demonstrating readiness to design, assemble, and verify complex electronic systems used throughout the aerospace industry.
